A Few New Photos...

On this last day of September, I find myself uploading some new photography on Etsy and realizing that summer is really over. All well, though, October is my favorite month of the year!

Creepy Doll "Antique"

Antique stores are great places for finding things for your home, and for taking photos. Sometimes I come across some pretty creepy stuff, including old dolls that have seen better days.

Autumn Leaves

Those of us in Minnesota know that you don't need to travel to Maine to see beautiful autumn colors. The oranges, yellows, and pinks are starting to peek here in the Twin Cities. Going to be a splendid October!

Creepy Taxidermy, 2014

Hard to believe that humans can make such creepy things. Even harder to believe that there are antique stores in existence that place value on them, and try to sell them to other humans.

Then there are people like me who go in search of things like this, knowing on some level that they exist and that someone else is more unstable than me.

Lakewood Cemetery Ghost Story, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Minneapolis is an awesome place for urban exploring. Its old enough to have some great history, and small enough that there isn't any real risk of getting too lost (not that getting lost has ever stopped me). Lakewood Cemetery is one of those places; great history and big but not too big.

I ventured into an older part of the cemetery this time. The tombstones aged by weather and covered in moss. While the caretakers of the cemetery go to great lengths to keep up with the lawn care, it doesn't keep some of the grave stones from being overtaken by grass and dirt.

Older graves sometimes don't have names and the stones simply read "Mother" or "Daughter". Sitting myself down in the grass, I pay my respects to these families that time has forgotten. It is clear that visitors to this part of the cemetery are few and far between.

At one point I was positive I could hear the wailing of some ghost who was trapped in the cemetery for all eternity. There was a longing in that wailing, lugubrious and lonesome, hoping that some long lost loved one would return.

It wasn't until I was on my way out of the cemetery that I noticed the wedding taking place at the cemetery's chapel, complete with an opera singer. The woman's voice had echoed all over the cemetery that day, giving a voice to those long dead.

The Antique Store and the Cemetery

On a day that felt more like summer than autumn, I decided to spend most of my day outside. Being the huge autumn fan that I am, I thought what better way to spend the day than in Lakewood Cemetery and the neighborhood antique store Hunt & Gather.

While in Hunt & Gather, I came across many artifacts of human existence, including an old football, the original PBR beer can made of steel, and some pretty spectacularly creepy taxidermy.

Lakewood Cemetery is one of my favorite Minneapolis locations. It is huge, and I explore a different section every time I go in. Today I explored the older part of the cemetery, where most of the tombstones and grave stones are from the 1800's. So much history!
